Class of 2014 - Class Trip

Written by senior, Taylor Ziermann~

Our Class Trip
Our first day in New York, we met our tour guide, Bruce, and went on a walking tour of 5th Avenue.  We made our way to the Top of the Rockefeller Center; the view was amazing!  After a quick trip to Times Square, we had supper at Buca di Beppo.  Following our meal, we all headed back to the hotel.
The next morning, we ate breakfast at the hotel and then headed into the city.  We all got on a ferry to take us to the Statue of Liberty.  It was a rainy and windy ride!  After visiting the Statue of Liberty, we went to Ellis Island.  Both places were very interesting to see.  For lunch, we went back to a deli in Lower Manhattan.  The food was awesome!  Following lunch, we visited the September 11th Memorial and took a little tour of St. Paul's Chapel.  After that, we went to Ground Zero to see the memorial and plans for future buildings and the new museum.  Our class headed back to Times Square for a little more shopping and we ate our evening meal at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company.
Day 3 in New York, we took a bus tour and Bruce pointed out points of interest such as where certain movie stars reside.  After that, we went to Chinatown to do some shopping.  That was fun!  Following Chinatown, we spent some time at the Grand Central Terminal and ate lunch there.  We even tried riding the subway~  In the afternoon, we went to Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum.  Our dinner was at the Hard Rock Cafe that evening,  we did a little last minute shopping in TImes Square, and walked to our Broadway Show "After Midnight."  It was great! :)
Our last day in New York was a very full day!  We started off by visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  Next, we walked through Central Park and ate at the famous boathouse located within the park.  We continued our walking tour to the American Museum of Natural History.  After all the planned tours, we went to Macy's Herald Square for some final shopping.  We headed back for our 21 hour trek  to Lester Prairie that evening.  It sure was a busy week, but we enjoyed our class trip to New York!
